Sarah Harry and Fiona Sutherland

In 2016 Sarah and Fiona are proud to be Spokeswomen of the Special K Australia #OwnIt Campaign to help women in Australia “Ditch the Doubt” and become more comfortable in their bodies.

 

Sarah Harry Fat YogaSarah Harry is one of Australia’s leading specialists in Body Image and Disordered Eating. Her roles in this field are varied and she offers a unique perspective as an experienced Clinician, Lecturer, Researcher, Yoga Teacher and Writer. Sarah is a warm and engaging speaker and clinician, coming from a place of self-compassion and empathy.

Her clinical areas of interest and specialisation are Body Image and Eating Disorders. Sarah has more than 15 years’ experience counselling individuals and groups with all kinds of eating and body image issues, she has worked in the public and private sectors, lectures at universities and schools in these subjects and is currently running a research trial at a Melbourne Hospital exploring the efficacy of Yoga on recovery.

Sarah is a highly experienced group and retreat facilitator, dedicated to helping people find a healthy and happy relationship with food and their bodies. She believes that we can all become more comfortable in our own bodies and much less critical!

Sarah also a Registered Yoga Teacher, teaching Body Positive Yoga to all ages, shapes and levels of experience at public classes and retreats.

Sarah has worked at The Center of Excellence in Eating Disorders (CEED) at Royal Melbourne Hospital educating and training health professionals and been involved in 3 research projects investigating the efficacy of the RIPE group program (in partnership with Monash University, ACU and La Trobe)

She has been on the board of Eating Disorders Victoria and Vice President of that organisation. She is a Community Partner of the Body Image and Yoga Coalition (USA), sits on the National Advisory Board of HAES Australia and is a member of the NEDC. She has presented her research and work at Conferences and was awarded the prize for Best Presentation at the 2013 ANZAED Conference.

She has written articles for Mamamia, Australian Yoga Journal and The New Weekly. 

 

 

Fiona Sutherland is an Accredited Practising Dietitian & Nutritionist with a diverse working background including international clinical work, private practice, sports nutrition, corporate consultancy, research & working extensively in Dietetic training.

Fiona is one of Australia’s leading specialists in Mindful Eating and the NonDiet Approach (read more about it HERE) & supports eating in an individually tailored way that supports every person’s unique needs, in alignment with the HAES (Health At Every Size) (R) paradigm. Fiona co-facilitates workshops all over Australia training other Dietitians in the NonDiet Approach with Fiona Willer from Health Not Diets. Together, they aim to support Dietitians in the mindfulness and client-centred therapies. Fiona is a professional member of The Center for Mindful Eating, the internationally recognised expert group on Mindful Eating.

Fiona is also an Accredited Sports Dietian, working with elite athletes , including the young dancers at the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne and the apprentice Jockeys at the Racing Victoria Apprenticeship Program. She & Sarah work together with post graduate students at Deakin University, presenting annual workshops in Eating Behaviour, Counselling Skills and Body Image.

Fiona works in private practice in Eltham & Hawthorn, specialising in Mindful & Intuitive Eating to support people to pursue wellbeing and optimal health, and turn away from dietary restriction and unsustainable ways of eating.

Did you know your body can talk to you? If you feel like you’ve lost touch, Fiona’s particular interest is in helping people use mindfulness approaches to engage with food and eating in a more calm and confident manner by tuning into the body and connecting with the body’s natural signals.
