I run Fat Yoga for those who identify as fat (big fat/small fat/any kind!) and you can join the Facebook group here. Come and join us over on www.fatyoga.com.au Fat Yoga classes are sold in pack of 4-10 classes and sell out REALLY fast!
There are 6 locations across Melbourne for these classes so hopefully you can find one near you. We also run retreats in Australia and overseas for those of you not in Victoria.

Why Fat Yoga?
Have you ever felt you didn’t have the ‘right’ body for yoga? Or felt uncomfortable walking into a gym or studio?
Well, Fat Yoga is for you! We make our studio and classes a safe and judgement free zone.
We are a body lovin’ absolutely accepting space. We we don’t talk about diets or do weight loss challenges! There is absolutely no body shaming.
Wear what you like, be who you are, you are amazing just as you are right now and I want to help you feel comfy in your skin.
We focus on the breath and the experience of becoming more ’embodied’ – inhabiting your body with more ease and comfort (wow, isn’t that a great idea!)
A gentle, restorative practice to introduce the ideas of self-compassion, self-care and self appreciation.
Yoga strengthens and stretches the entire body, improves balance and focus and helps reduce stress and anxiety (also you feel fantastic after class!)
Common worries and questions!
I have never done yoga before, is this class suitable?
Yes! We welcome beginners. You may like to join our 8 week introduction Course, but it’s not mandatory. Just come to class 15 minutes early and have a chat to me (I’m friendly!)
I am not very flexible, can I still enjoy yoga?
Absolutely. Yoga will help improve your strength and flexibility and I utilise bolsters, blankets and modifications to make yoga accessible for all levels of flexibility.
I don’t have anything to wear!
I totally understand! You don’t need anything special but you do need to be comfortable and able to move freely. I find that Best and Less has a very low cost and good quality plus size yoga pant. Target and Big W are also good to try. If you wan to be be groovy and rock some fun bright prints I recommend Lineage Wear and for fantatastic Australian quality try Sonsee Active
I have a very curvy body, will I be comfortable in this class?
I am a curvy yoga teacher (we are rare, but we do exist!) so I understand bigger bodies and care for them in my classes. These classes are made up of all kinds of bodies, so you will find a range of body shapes, ages and mobility in these classes.
What should I expect the class to be like?
We usually begin the class by grabbing your mat (provided or byo) and lying down with a support under your knees to support your back. We start with some attention to our breathing and relaxation. Then a gentle warm up of the muscles and joints (I am very safety conscious). From there we take a trip through the body, moving in a flowing way from seated work to standing postures and back to the ground. I will avoid a lot of work on your knees. There are chairs should you need assistance sitting or standing. We then finish the class with 10 minutes of Savasana, a guided relaxation.
My style is warm and inclusive and will instantly put you at ease. Please feel free to approach me about anything.
